Welcome Back!!

Oh my goodness, where has the time gone?  My poor Blog has been abandoned all this time - all work and NO play.......  I guess a lot has happened since I opened the shop, least of all the extra grey hairs under my fab new colours!  I only ever had one grey hair, and I attributed that to the Blokey Man!, seemed appropriate.  Well, lets see if I can give you a "reasonably quick" update, maybe using my labels as a helping hand..........

Boys
Youngling #1 left school to take on an apprenticeship in Commercial Cookery, focusing on the pastry side of things.  This meant lots of weekend work and he had to give away the soccer, which was a sad thing.  He did manage to get his motorbike license, and ventured forth to work each day on the Blokey Man's thumping black "Dinosaur" - which he's had forever!  Acquired with the profits of labour, the Youngling purchased himself a new Yamaha trailbike ("we're a Yamaha Family mum"... remember?).  A bike to defy face altering speed of light power-banding technology.  Riding that thing is like sitting on a G-string according to the Blokey Man - how he knows that I don't even want to think about!

SO, with the bike comes bonding, blokey bonding, in the bush with 250 other blokes (and the odd shiela according, once again, to the Blokey Man).  Along tracks, through mud, up hills and sideways around bends.  The Youngling's father and pseudo uncle of all things new and shiny in the shed, accompanied the Youngling, and sent him colourful blessings of "just go, we can't keep up with that!!!".  I purposefully left out the colourful bits because I don't have the Blog Authority to use that kinda language ........... anyway, it seemed the only thing stopping the Youngling was running out of fuel.  Ironically the same thing stopped the Blokey Man & Uncle Bling, but their fuel was stored bodily and a tad uncomfortably atop the well restrained throttles of their rides.  Alas, bonding proved most successful, and the grins were full of well embellished stories of the day.

During his time at the Cafe the Youngling has worked with many different people, watching many of them leave to venture onto other things.  With this in mind the young fella has contemplated moving on.  We are yet to see where this will take him, but for the moment he's still kitchen bound.

Youngling #2 has seen 3 Colleges during his senior years, and this year tackles his year 12 studies.  With his choice of career still undetermined I am beginning to wonder if he's using all his spare time to introduce Social Stuff into the curriculum as a career choice!  The social butterfly is well networked amongst his peers, and I'm sure he's grown another 6 inches since I saw him last!  The Blokey Man and his Mother are most nervous about the impending legal coming of age of this fella, now only a couple of months away.  Perhaps the saving grace is that he is still at school,........perhaps.

This year we have a school trip to Italy to look forward to, well for the Youngling at least!  I only wish the Blokey Man was going with him to re-connect with his heritage and become more traveled and worldly.  I just had visions of like that add where she pushes him into the waters of abyss in Tasmania and he comes out like a stud - only this is Italy and if that was going to happen I'd have sat him on a sling shot and sent him years ago!  So, Italy, a partnering role in the THT Festival Queen ball, a bit of basketball, indoor soccer, pre-season soccer already started, volleyball later in the year, clocking up more hours for his licence, and god knows how many more deb balls and 18th's and parties............  this Blog is going to take me a tad longer to finish than previously anticipated - I think I'll have to do it a bit at a time.

Whew, part one down!

stay tuned,

there's more,

.......lots more.

Step into September

Here we are half way through September 2009, and only a few months until the end of the year. Where does the time go? I thought I was having a good run getting my blog up to date (gulp....), but it seems to have been a bit of hit and miss... Trying to make a better effort.

Friday night and #2 son headed off to Buffalo River for a sleepover party with his soccer mates. Much encouragement was offered in support of socializing for the Blokey Man to venture off with #1 son to "The Shed" for male bonding, grunting, liquid consumption and a bit of rampant gossiping before the footy started.... At last, time to get out into the "testosterone forbidden zone" and start the CyberCrop. This would be my first attempt at these challenges, and much encouragement was prompted from the Beaver.

Now, 33A was walked in, through and around the general vicinity with the semi-attached laptop, wireless in full gear. Yep, it works - You can build my room!!! Well, it didn't have any wireless blocking walls or insulation or freezers or fridges or blokey heavy metal stuff outside the walls then did it? No, it didn't, so the dreaded vision of total escapism to a place far, far across the verandah, down the steps, across the patio, into the garage and down the back to my room where I could be totally independent of running in and out of the house to read my computer was supposed to be a good thing.... Well, sometimes it works, and sometimes it doesn't. So, rig up Mustang's chair, put a cushion on it, sit the paper folder on that for a bit more height, tilt it this way, now turn it a bit that way, now a bit more this way and BINGO! - we have connection!! now we don't, now we do, now we don't, now we do...

And so it went, trying to download the challenges as they came online and copy them onto a word doc to work from, and getting hysterical texts from Beaver asking why I was in and out all the time, and was I doing the challenges, and have a look at that next one!

Well, well, well... as part of the CyberCrop each month there is a Guest Designer to set a challenge, and guess who it was? Our very own Beaver has the honour, and that may well explain the excitement of multiple texts and subsequent phone call over the past few days to ensure I was going to have a go!!! How exciting is that! Well, the monthly theme is all masculine and blokey, and Beaver set a challenge for a LayOut with some kind of material, and a handmade embelishment. She herself had used a pair of jeans that she cut up (fortunately Wayne wasn't in them at the time..... but I would still be worried since she is still on P's with her scissor licence...) for the background, which she also stamped on and did all sorts of special things to. Its looks great.

There was a plan, but I needed to warm up first so I attacked Miss Helen's Card Sketch challenge, and am so loving using my distress inks again. This finally done (lets just say, over the weekend..), I tackled the Beaver's LO. I got the old fluro work shirt that Blokey Man tore up several nights earlier, and set about cutting it up to fit a 12 x 12 LO, leaving one side of the collar and buttons in place. After juggling a few different ideas and photos, I decided to go with the Truckin' Blokes. The photo was taken of Trucking Grumpy, Blokey Man and the Deputy Grand Pooh Bah at a motorbike family day for all the younglings. Well, it is finally finished and I am
pretty happy with it. The result is thus;

Well, Blokey Man acquired the new beast of the Yamaha variety on Saturday, and duly took off to Havilah with #1 son in tow to test the power! Team Yamaha embarked upon the Jambro Park MotoCross Track to collect their faithful guide, and explore the upper regions of the pines... Alas, not much hillside height was attained before the dummy was spat and the guide returned to his humble abode... the smooth words, charm and tenderness of the Blokey Man could not dissuade the disgruntled Honda youngling to remain with the team and venture forth into pines far, far away...

The excitement of exploring the rugged earthy tracks in the pines became quite a feat when Blokey Man was abused by #1 son for... taking him on tracks that had big trees fallen across the tracks that I can't get over..... That man, he has such power! Well, I guess the padding on the seat was starting to wear thin, and the return trip home would not be far away.

Well, doesn't this bike look a whole lot bigger than the last one? These things just keep on getting taller. And I don't know about you, but I can't see any great big trees laying across the track here....

What do you reckon Brayden?

Well the fun is done, and it's off on the home trip.

I think I've made a pretty good effort this time around, even got photos! Go Me! Will try to stay on top of posts, and hope to update the blog a bit more too.

cheers

Kicking Up Some Dust

March 29th 2009 saw yet another gathering of the younglings of the Happy Valley, the Hillbilly's and the Hoota's. With the respective parties all converging upon the land of rapid excavation, the task of unloading the variety of colourful beasts from their transporters ensued. With all abandoned to their waiting area, the onlookers all gathered for the unloading of the dinosaur, with Blokey Man displaying much exertion in the process. It's not costing anything you know!

The settling-in of the younglings saw an opportune time for the Blokey Man to perform a quick reconnaissance in the bays of hidden treasures. Satisfied that there was nothing new to be found, the Blokey Man was seen to be in awe of his treasured gifted Gondola, in prime pristine position for all to see.

With Jackie Girl banished to the ties of the efficiently colour co-ordinated Hoota bling transporter, the younglings all disrobed and, and set course for the newly excavated Jambro Park Motorcross Track.... Fully clad in his newly acquired self funded cranium encrusting head bling, the elder Happy Valley sibling led the way. Vision's of the youngest of the Hillbilly siblings were focused on the footwear of the non-safety variety, and action amongst the saw the mums seek alternative footwear come the pit stop.

Well, round one was successful in testing the adaptability of the younglings to remain upright on the Jambro Park Motorcross Track, with mounts of horsepower remaining mechanically sound. It was time to break out the wallets for lunch before resuming the excitement. Unfortunately, this saw the gas bottle on the barbie reading a sad empty.... if only we could hook up the highly combustive and gaseous Tr*ucking Grumpy, although that may have been far too dangerous with younglings around! Thank goodness there was a reserve 4 foot gas bottle (now that was a sight) to cook Blokey Man's bangers just the way he likes, and we even had a little gas left for the rest of the meat... And if our very own Happy Valley Asset has learnt anything at all, it was to stop serving food to beer toting males before an audience of non-compliant sisters... Who knows how far said beer toting male could have carried this if you'd kept going, his wrist might have got really sore and he wouldn't be able to do anything!!

With the epicurean taste buds of younglings quickly satisfied after successfully devouring all but a few of the “Deli Delights Platter”, the Dragon all but throwing up on the table to deter them, the distant “dinging in his ears” of the till saw the Blokey Man encourage the younglings to set forth to their mounts of horsepower.

Much mystery surrounds the visions of the Horse Herder, with all that know him in awe of his merging of the massive excavation of the Jambro Park Motorcross Track within the paddocks of the beloved hoofed beasts. Much single handed effort saw the water tank emerge, with the Horse Herder applying moisture to the dust, and again later on, perhaps to see if the ensuing entertainment could be maximized with a bit of sideways action... Alas, with the other hand now free of his stubby, again the tractor of excavation was set about extending the challenges of the dam wall jump on the straight of the first left corner after the gate.... One wonders if the spare whip and spurs in the stable of love have had reason to cause such a positive effect in the mystical changes of the Horse Herder??

The rising of the dust into the stratosphere saw the need for the dinosaur to be cranked up, the bling to be suited up, and all and sunder thrust forth to the direction of the outward gate for journey's far, far away. With all participants fully encrusted bodies in an array of colourful outer body protection, every mother's nightmare put on his Darth Vader helmet, his work boots and with the thrusting of the scrapbooking camera headed to the gate. Now the girls can rush inside and busily clean up the cooking area, wash all the dishes, clean the kitchen, sweep the shed out, or they could just sit back and enjoy the quiet with Chardy and Boronia – much better idea!!!

The rising of smoke in the not too distant hills saw the return of the dinosaur, the bling and the adequately protected younglings. A decision to return to the habitation of the Happy Valley Block confirmed the onset of another fire. After considerable oooing and ahhhing as to the possible cause, the navigational strategies for the action of the choppers, and an on hand radio update via something similar to the Dead Terrorist Ring tone, it was time for a cool down drink.

A comfortable bonding was assumed with the adults, discussing the customer service skills of the Blokey Man and his mentor, the dress requirements of the female ensemble not to wear such a revealing G-string as to cause erosion, the shotgun toting neighbors feeling the need to protect their airspace, and any water supplies beneath it, and the dance and drink night at the Border District Grumpy Husband awards (I hear one of our very own won this hands down!!).

Well, the troops were once again getting restless, and not the least bit enthralled by the adult conversations. It was time for round two on the recently extended jump and moistened track. This should surely test the adaptability of the younglings to remain upright after becoming airborne on the Jambro Park Motocross Track, with dusty, thirsty mounts of horsepower remaining mechanically sound thus far. The camera crews were assemble at the best vantage points to perform photographic memorabilia, and were somewhat astounded to find that they had forgotten the video camera to pick up the adrenalin inspired vocals from the flying yellow peril... Much could be said for the increasing stupidity, I mean confidence and skill, of the younglings to all gain acceptable levels of balance, speed and air with each and every lap.

At some point in the day, however, there must be one to temp the skills of sanity in the burdens of responsible parenting, and this was handed to the maternal wrath of the hell child. Not satisfied with the levels of the Jambro Dust Cluster in the stratosphere, he saw to remove the pile of powdered dust in the dry dock dam area, with ones back wheel spinning at full throttle (no full noise, that comes with the 2 bangers..). Having little idea of the blackout factor for non-directional younglings on mounted horsepower, he was at once scolded with verbal affection. His self-excavating rights to re-shape the dam wall were revoked at all haste. Having relocated to well within visual eye piercing distance of the maternal wrath, it was time to attest his skill at a decent horsepower burnout to excavate a new divit beside the jump, where upon the hoofed beasts would meander in the off season. It would seem this was way too game a move from the all too confident hell child, and he received yet another scolding, provoking him to re-locate with wrist flicking speed.

All younglings were successful at remaining upright after becoming airborne, but much can be said for settling dust out in the back corner where eating more than a bit of dust saw Tom doing a finger brush of the teeth to remove a bit of grass! Further confusion amongst the testosterone in the direction of the photographic jump shot saw Riley lay down his mount on a quiet patch of ground, before being heaved back up. With all finally settled upon the jump, the scrapbookers and photographic memorabilia keepers performed amazing tasks of goading smiles.

All younglings were duly herded back to the Happy Valley pit area where all mounts were inspected by damage control, before re-loading and subsequent departures. With accounts settled, transporters packed and families all preparing for departure, plans were set to continue the acquaintance with a schedule for a future Saturday meet.

A great day experienced by all.

A Spot of Sport

Hey there!!
We have just wound up the basketball down here, number one son didn't make finals, but number two son got through to the second round then got bumped out. (It is wrong to want to strangle coaches...????) If I was an overly modest person with enough front I would say that I could have got them over the line quite easily, but I am obviously more modest in my mind because I just wouldn't say that! None-the-less, the game had me very frustrated, with Blokey Man clutching my hand to the bench to stop me from running over to the coaching bench!! “I just want to tell them something.....” I begged. “Sit down, and say nothing!!!” The joys of parenting...

We went and watched the junior and senior grand finals over the weekend just gone, and I would have to say they were all pretty even games, with only one team getting more than a 10 point lead. Makes for very good finals, and most amusing for all those others in the crowd who knew more rules than those silly referees anyhow... The excitment factor was most impressive, and much to Blokey Man's dismay, not a single one bitch fight at all! "Not like the other night" he grumbles.... at least you get a bit of skirt at netball! Yeah, it's a man thing, but at least they had a good turnout to the games, and most spectators were well behaved! So, until next year....

I got to wave my arms around a lot and run up and down the court blowing fury in the second round of finals though, then the locals and the Albury refs did the rest. I have been up to Wang a couple of times to get some coaching, and they run a very tight ship. Their instructor refs the national league so everything is by the book. Overall they have a great system, the new refs have great support on court and the right attitudes. A vision for implementation is at this time in the back of my mind, from what I have seen this last season.

I am hoping to do more games in Wang as their competitions run all year, we only have the one "major" season here, which is still a big thing for the town. Everyone loves their basketball here. I feel I will need to bring my game up to scratch by going for my grading again............ boy wasn't that a long time ago!!!! Many moons ago good ol' Peter Rodderhan from Mooroopna graded me at a tournament in Shepparton. And, how things have changed!

Refereeing has helped me get over not playing... (just) since my dicky knee incident. I am tempted to give it another go if that bitch that left those 15kgs would come back and take them away!! Oh my, I actually meant 5kg's........ My physio would be most pleased, and display all manner of astomishment and admiration as he put me through a trial session of competency. That “thump” was me hitting the floor, seemed to have fallen asleep whilst putting on my knee brace, which really has been fantastic by the way. So, where was I? Oh, sports............

Well, soccer rego has been paid, new boots purchased, new shorts and socks next on the shopping list, and mum's new gumboots (colourful of course!) a much needed addition to those soggy winter games!!! (you remember winter mornings, ice on the pitch, a boundry of brollies and deck chairs submerging into muddy hollows?) Off we go............. Starts again the week before holidays, then the two week break and back into it. We will have a bit of a reprieve this year though with one of the teams pulling out, so there'll be a bye. Yayyyyyyy, time to dry out all the gear properly!!!!!!

Did I tell you I was volunteering at the local secondhand bookshop? The dear owner was involved in a very nasty car accident, and suffered innumerable broken bones and injuries all over her body! She is still in hospital some three months down the track, and about to have another surgery, on her neck this time. I cannot imagine how long it's going to take her to recover, or how she will fare when she does, but at lease we can do our bit for her in the shop.

Anyway, it's a second hand shop, stacked to the brim, with lots and lots of SHBooks. We all want to clear out some of the books to make more room to move in the shop, and have it looking good for her. She is lucky to have her brother, Kevin and dear friend, Joan organizing us all. They do every other day, and fill in for people who are unable to fill their roster. Anyway, in my current non-employment status I have decided to catalogue all the books in the shop and whack them into a spreadsheet. At least then we will know what we have, and hopefully where to find it. And spreadsheets are good for all manner of sorting; titles, authors etc... crime, romance, smut etc.....

Although not initially linked to sport, I feel the lead up needs to cover the recent local FIRES.
The fires were a bit scary. We got a phone call at midnight asking for our water tank to help douse spot fires at a friends. When we walked outside to have a look, not expecting to see anything, the whole sky was red. The heat of the day could only be described as "combustive", it was incredible heat, I can't ever remember a day like that. Blokey Man got the boys up and we drove just to the outskirts, at the cemetary actually, along with many other onlookers, and watched the fire raging up the Mudgegonda valley. You could see the flames jumping along the top of the hills, and all the time thinking the firey's had no hope of stopping that.

I took a few photos, but that time of night with the batteries deciding to cark it on the digital, they weren't too flash (no pun intended). Blokey Man's niece and her family were lucky, it was across the road on top of the hill, and coming up the valley behind, but the wind changed and they had firey's in there cutting firebreaks with dozers. Despite the fact that they have bush in the hills in front of their property, and pines up the back of their property, I would never have thought that that would make a difference. But now, after seeing homes in the middle of no-where burnt to the ground, I have a new understanding for how aggressively fire works. The whole thing is just devastating.

I have done nothing in my craft room for YONKS!!! (that's an old one right?) After a recent trip to the desert with number one son, I am now inspired to get back in there!! There has been little cult bonding of late, so I am also meeting up with the Border Bundy Babe on Saturday when "Blokey Man goes to test ride the BLING....” (that would be the Harley BLING...) Oh, and he's seeing the chiro too, but the rest we have to do, right? So, off we will all trot to the Border District where the big boys will fluff with the bling, the little boys will grunt with bikes at the skate park, and the girls will fluff in the craft room of the Dragon... Percieved lazyness from the men folk will be alleviated with offering of my famous spag bol for lunch, and then on sunday the troops will re-assemble at Brown's (non-burnt) Block for motorbike stunts and (non-burnt) BBQs!

And, (there is a huge sigh about here), Blokey Man wants to upgrade number two son to a YZ125 because he needs a bigger bike. Didn't we just buy one??? Little brother needed his, and I have an unreserved fear factor going into overdrive at the thought of number one son flying across the paddocks at full noise a'la' 2 stroke and hitting the power band......... and why, because he can! Uh huh..

Ok, me conceding that he does need a bigger bike........ but I can't reach the pedals on THAT one, and we'll be trading in the one I CAN ride!!! (By CAN I mean both feet reach the ground at the same time with some of the caboose sitting lightly on the seat............. too much?)

Son number two has been busy on his birthday list.......... OMG!! The IT kid has got it all figured out, all except where the money is coming from! Alas, at least now they are feining responsibility and helping with their chores........... the clock is ticking, will it last??!! We have a family roster you know, because mum likes to play on the computer and make pretty spreadsheets with our names on them, then stick them on the fridge.............. DOH! Oh, and she points and pouts in their direction whilst screeching..... DOH, saying their names, as she indicates the lack of completion for the tasks of temptation. Clearly, the temptation is on an even keel of what they'll get if they do it, and what they won't get if they don't, but probably will anyway knowing their soft-touch parents, plus get paid for it......... That's how it goes right? Oh, on my forehead, that would be sucker I think....

Well, my computer is liking to communicate with you as I have curiously written like this without so much as taking a cyber breath!! (if there should be such a thing)..... All is otherwise quite on the communication front. Still, there is mundane tasks at hand, the washing to simmer and the corn beef to hang.............. DOH! Is it too early for a chardy, perhaps I should pop open the red instead?......

Oh, just thought of something funny. Whilst speaking to the Deputy Grand Poo Bah from the Desert recently, he was somewhat reluctant to hand over the phone to the Scrapbooking Asset. It seemed she was deeply stuck down with the urge to provide and prepare morsals of sustenance for the Desert Dwellers evening meal, or maybe she wasn't even home – can't exactly remember right now. “It'll just be a quick one..” I gingerly commented, to which thunderous laughter bellowed from the phone, in reply to which “there is NO SUCH THING as a QUICK ONE with you two!!!!”. Giggle as I may, my very own response was “we're not taking about our men now, are we?” Yes, there was more thunderous laughter bellowing from both ends of the phone.

Oh, and NO I did not get to have that “quick one”, ....... “she'll call you later” and he hung up! Thank goodness for texting.......

catch you later, have a good day.

As June flies by

What an interesting week we've had in the house of amazingly approachable open spaces. ... The mere distances one must travel in this vast tangent of little warrens, without meeting, greeting or retreating from any other beings is mere nano seconds. It's an interesting week when you've got to talk about the space in the house.............

Well much abounds in the absence of the Old Fart and his Little Fart. We have spread our (little) wings and relaxed a bit. The boys are back in their own rooms, although i suspect the constant complaints of nagging each other are merely signs of actually wanting the company...

Whilst the Farts are enjoying warm and sunny days we are freezing our butts off in air now turned icy instead of rain, and we're really feeling the chill. The frosts have been amazing, my little Mazda6 all iced up, and fogs thick enough to send a Bdouble scuttling past the Snow Road turn off!

It's never quite cold enough in the morning though for adolescent boys to wear their uniform to school without a jumper. Nothing a couple of good frosts and a ride to school on the bike won't fix anyway!! "This bomber jacket is really warm Mum, and cool!!" It might be two sized too big, but i figure that if number one son can tell everyone at school to get over it, then i should be able to! Just don't look, it matches his hair and i think he's growing into that too!.... It 's casual day tomorrow too, so that should be a hoot!

We did take time out of our Fart less days to go visit the Brown Block, bundled up with bangers and marshmallows. It may have been wet and wild, but what better atmosphere for four wild boys to tear down the drive, in the rain, on the pushy.. Ah the country air, refreshes the mind and soul and all those other body parts that scrape along the drive after air bound stints. Rarely does time allow for any departures without hint of pain and suffering of some kind......

And what of the rolling hills, such a fine opportunity to take a walk and collect many a fine kindling for all sorts of manifesting creations. Such acts of collection somewhat amaze and stun the blokey man as he looks into the back of the 4wd with raised eyebrows... "More crap" I hear him say, and just as quickly the look upon his smirky face is wiped clean with "I'm going to build a bridge so i can get over it, but i think I'll need more wood!!" Now that was priceless, rarely is it that we find the blokey man speechless but think clearly knocked the wind out of him!! .....wonder where i can get some twine........

As with all visitations the favour is returned, and much knowledge is passed around in regard to building industry specifications. Upon this point the now redundant gas heater is met with contemplation, and blokey man discusses future weekend pursuits of attempted removals with Jen Jen's man. "Just pull it off" he says. "Go on" replies blokey man, so he does. Two screws later and a little sawing from a very little saw and we've just freed up a weekend to go visiting my family!! Oh what, you have to work that weekend................ :)
Isn't it nice when visitations turn into on the spot working bees that takes months or years???? Happens a lot hey? Can't wait for the laundry to get done.....

Well, there has been lots of running and panting and sweating and skidding in the mud, and blokey man will not be happy with the dog on the lawn. In between all this the boys have been busy at soccer and had some great games. Riley went into keeper and took a terrific save, and Brayden just went berserk again... Two recent best on ground vouchers on the same day gave them both a real buzz. On we go into the second round now, brollies in hand, coffee mug and deck chair. And a bit of vocal support will usually see blokey man wander off to canteen for a minute or two....... Clears the lungs right?

Where has the time gone? The phone call finally came in; the Farts are coming back! A trip to Melbourne is in hand as the Old Fart gets airborne (unlike grandson), and little Fart gets caged up down below. A blustery trip saw a 40 minute delay outside Avenel when one of several trees had fallen across both south-bound lanes. The line of lights behind me seemed to be growing even further back with the knowledge that the school holidays had already started. Soon on the way again, my lovely accommodation hosts, MaryAnne and Tony, prepared their special spag, a very nice drop of red and topped up my daily caffeine limit . Whilst catching up on stuff I was delighted to see the eating habits of their male adolescent son, somewhat older that my own boys, engrossed in the consumption of creamed cheese and cracked pepper sangers. . Now this i had not seen before, and was so bemused in the preparations occurring that my obvious distraction did cause a blackout on one poor sanger... With all but raised eyebrow, the disarray of pepper was casually tidied up and consumption did occur. No wonder the boys plays a hot game of volleyball, all that pepper...!! Shortly after this, and much later than when Tony piked it to read the new car manual in bed......... i was merrily sent off to bed in the outer sanctions of the granny office... And what a lovely restful night too.

How nice it was to see Cat's use of the papers and craft stuff i gave her being used in her homework projects. Looked really great. One day soon we are going to get together and have some fun making crafty stuff, just got to sort it out with mum and dad....

On the road again, 10 minutes out and I'm at the airport and wouldn't you know it, I'm early and so is the plane. There goes my coffee......... Wandering Old Fart was intercepted along the arrivals corridor, and almost walked right past me. I was tempted to give him the familiar "Hey Head" greeting, but feared it may have to be called out too loud and attract unwelcome attention... so i just stood there and looked at him. I think he may have been overcome with all the "variety", he seemed a little dazed. Maybe it was just the altitude........... Anyway, off we trot to pick up the car and collect the little Fart and she wasn't even there!! A somewhat worried look passed over the Old Farts face as he was asked if he travelled with the animal....... oh great, she's on another flight and we're gonna have to stay down here for another three hours and go shopping.... Oh, tangent.. The good man went and did collect and deliver very squeaky jumping Little Fart, and we hit the McCafe!! Yeah, what a road trip without a good coffee right? Anyway, Little Fart needed to remove of bit of retained excitement, and I'd rather she did it all on the grass!! Good Girl!!

So how was Poppy's trip? "Gee it was cold up there...." yep, circulation's shot! Lucky i brought his big coat down, but i didn't expect him to wear it all the way home in the car! Ah well, at least the trip was a bit more pleasant than the night before. So now we're home and yet another saga begins; school holidays start tomorrow and treatments start the following week. Lots of things going on. Keep you posted!

Gettin' Air - latest double layout

This is the latest layout that i have just finished. The photos were taken at Brown's Block, and the boys were busy riding the boundries of the block, and jumping the dam. With little water around the dust was pretty full on, and there wasn't much to call water in the dam. After the huge run-up it was along the top of the dam bank, around the right and up the hill a bit, veering back around to then cut across the bottom of the dam and "launch" off the side, Gettin' Air! The two Yamaha's were making quite a worn track across and around the dam. I had to be quick to try and snap the photos before the bikes shot past, running from one side to the next with the camera. On this particular occasssion, on page two, I tried to snap Brayden going over the edge (I guess that's a trait he gets from his mother!) but managed to chop the top of the helmet off. . . Gotta be quicker than that. Although there were two boys riding this day, I focused this layout on Brayden for his very focus and determination in his love of motorbikes. It was shortly after this photo was taken that I had turned my focus to the stallion being ridden in, that I heard Brayden crash over the side of the dam. Just like in the ad, mum goes bolting over the edge of the dam to find wounded son bowed on bended knee, bike sprawled on it's side, and a furore of expletives coming from one of the dirt clumps that the front wheel hit, throwing rider into an overhead airborne fling! I did manage to turn my head from side to side as I was running to see where all the commotin was coming from, surely there was an audience of Crusty Demon fams out there amongst the fence posts somewhere, right???..........because my son surely wouldn't be using those words....... Righty Oh, any blood, any pain, move your fingers, move your toes....... ok you're good! I think the look of shock in his eyes was for the Crusty Demons yelling like that in front of his mum....... A couple more laps then it was time for a gathering around the fire and a licking of the wounds. How quickly they move on, it's all fun and fantasy and excitement.

Needless to say, putting this layout together was fun. It was bright, with action and punch. The papers, stickers and chip were fun to use and decorate. I sanded, mounting on chip, adding paint and stickers and then using the dimentional magic to add gloss and depth. The brightness of the bazzil was heightened with the decision to cut and juggle them around, the papers were a brillance of mixture and colour, and packed into the action of the energy of the bikes.

My son was rapt with the layout, and beady eyes giggled as the simply but hugely meaningful "..it's all in the wrist!" was spotted written on a line down below. Not much gets past dad!! The 'in family' joke with father and son and featuring a super auto poofter truck, would bring many a belly laugh to all in the know. Just gotta' add that bit extra right?!

Until the next one...

cheers
